The Goleta Lemon Festival returned to Girsh Park this past weekend, running Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

The festival, put on by the Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, offered free admission and free parking, with a classic car show on Saturday and booth and food vendors across both days. The chamber billed the weekend as a gathering of local businesses, artists and families for food, fun and festivities.

The Lemon Festival is one of the Goleta Valley's signature community events, built around the region's citrus-growing heritage. Goleta's lemon groves were once a defining feature of the valley's agricultural landscape, and the festival keeps that history in the public eye even as the groves have given way to development.

This year's edition followed the familiar formula: local vendors, live entertainment, family activities and the lemon-themed treats that give the event its name. The chamber encouraged attendees to stop by the city of Goleta and Goleta Valley Library booths.

With the weekend now past, the two-day festival at Girsh Park closed out on schedule with free admission and free parking, another year for one of the Goleta Valley's signature community events.
